Trainee is a race you get in order to become Soul Reaper. They serve the same purpose as Soul Reapers but have limited access to Kido Skills and can't use Shikai and Bankai.

Trainee is one of the easiest races to get as it only requires you to be a human. When you spawn in as a human, you have to find one of the Soul Reaper NPCs and press E. You will be teleported to the Soul Society and so become a Trainee.
Trainees are a weaker version of Soul Reapers as they have limited access to Kido Skills and can't use Shikai and Bankai.
